Neve School of General Jewish Studies

Neve School of General Jewish Studies, the major division of the Neve Yerushalayim College, is designed for women who wish to increase their Jewish knowledge, improve their learning skills, and enhance their spiritual growth. For those with a limited Jewish studies background, Neve provides the basic knowledge necessary to lead a true and meaningful Jewish life. For those with a more extensive background, Neve affords the opportunity to acquire an in-depth knowledge of Jewish texts, a much greater understanding of the Jewish faith, and the skills necessary for independent Torah study.

The Neve School provides students with a wealth of knowledge and resources to enhance their roles as Jewish women in contemporary society. The comprehensive curriculum includes biblical studies, Jewish philosophy, Jewish law, prayer, Jewish history, and Hebrew language, all of which are presented in an inspiring yet practical way. Courses in morals, ethics, and psychology are directed to the needs of the students as women and Jews. Students emerge from Neve dedicated to the Jewish people and the land of Israel.

A key objective of the Neve School is to train students in independent study skills so they can continue to develop and grow after they leave the school. With the guidance of teachers and tutors, students "learn how to learn." They also acquire the skills to pass on to others the knowledge they gained at Neve.

The school's tranquil environment, free from outside pressures, quickens the rate of spiritual growth. Students have the opportunity to strengthen their level of commitment at their own pace and according to their own ability and desire.

Neve classes are taught by leading rabbis and women scholars who are exceptional educators and role models for their students. Along with the ability to make the subject matter exciting and challenging, Neve's teachers spark classroom discussions that stimulate the minds and the hearts of the students.

Rabbi Moshe Chalkowski, Chairman of the School, and the Vice Chairman, Rabbi Moshe Weiden, direct the School of General Jewish Studies.
