Michlelet Esther: Student Life

Michelet Esther is all about gaining the most from your seminary year in Israel. The reality is that outside the classroom, you spend a majority of your time living a student’s life. Find out how you can grow spiritually and make many friends while having lots of fun! We want to help you develop insights, sharpen your skills and have experiences that will empower you to make positive choices throughout your life, because learning here will take place both in and out of the classroom!

Outside activities are an integral part of the Michlelet Esther experience.  Once a week students are given the opportunity to express their talents and creativity with Arts and Crafts.  Some of our projects include: decoupage mezuzahs, beaded necklaces and bracelets; fashioning a menorah out of glass and clay and more.  Twice a week in the evenings, students are invited to the homes of their Rakezot (young married women who live in the Har Nof neighborhood who serve as mentors).  Some of their activities include: organizing informal gatherings with refreshments; they offer their kitchens to teach and show the girls how to prepare food, i.e. challah, salads, etc., for IN Shabbatot; arts and crafts and more. This warm setting creates an atmosphere where students feel “right at home”.

Let’s not forget our Madrichot who organize weekly evening activities in addition to being readily available to talk to and be there as a "big sister". Our madrichot also prepare on campus Bagel Breakfasts, birthday parties and other gatherings are held often during breaks from classes in the morning and afternoon.   Michlelet Esther is a MASA recognized institution and offers many programs to our students.  Recently MASA organized a gathering of over 1600 young women at the Binyanei HaOuma Convention Center in Jerusalem during Eser Yamei Teshuva in preparation for Yom Kippur and coming up next is Tu B’shevat tree planting in local forests.
