The
School of Community Service, University of North Texas, through its branch, “The
Center for Foreign Studies,” offers a Master of Science degree in
Sociology at the Neve Yerushalayim campus in Jerusalem. The primary objective of
the program is to provide professional training for those entering the field of
individual and family counseling. The Israel Council of Higher Education has
authorized the University of North Texas to provide graduate studies leading to
the Master’s Degree in Sociology.
The
program is dedicated to addressing the pressing needs of the Dati/Charedi
community by developing well-trained professional mental health practitioners
who are able to provide effective mental health services.
The
curriculum provides a firm foundation in psychology, counseling, and therapeutic
intervention. The program is informed by the perspective of clinical sociology,
which links and synthesizes concepts and theories across disciplines to create
an interdisciplinary framework for professional development. Students acquire a
systematic grounding in Family Systems, Psychology, and Counseling.
Students
benefit from an outstanding faculty who combine advanced academic training,
extensive research, counseling experience, and commitment to community service.
Within
the framework of this graduate program, students are able to benefit from
supervised fieldwork, extensive clinical counseling courses, and the opportunity
upon graduation to apply to the Family Institute’s Post-graduate Training
Program.
